The UK has announced a new air defence package for Ukraine worth more than £500 million, as Defence Secretary John Healey co-chaired the 33rd meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at NATO headquarters in Brussels on February 12, 2026.
The Brussels meeting, attended by defence leaders from 50 nations, included Germany’s Boris Pistorius and Ukraine’s Mykhailo Fedorov, focused on Ukraine’s military requirements for 2026.
The UK package alone includes £150 million for NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List, known as PURL, which coordinates the rapid purchase and delivery of “air defence interceptors” or guided missiles. This is the first time the UK has contributed directly to the initiative, which allows NATO to source equipment for Ukraine’s immediate needs.
The UK will also supply 1,000 Belfast-made Lightweight Multirole Missiles. The announcement builds on a £390 million arrangement that supports closer industrial cooperation between the UK and Ukraine.
Over the coming months, the UK is also set to deliver 1,200 additional air defence missiles and 200,000 rounds of artillery ammunition through the Air Defence Consortium.
“As we approach the fifth year of Putin’s full scale invasion, the UK and our allies are more committed than ever to supporting Ukraine,” Healey said. “I’m proud of the UK’s continued leadership and pleased to confirm a new half a billion pound package of air defence, including £150 million for PURL, to help Ukrainians defend against Putin’s relentless drone and missile attacks.”
