The signal is the weapon: How mobile networks became infrastructure for modern war

Positioned on NATO’s Eastern Flank, Poland is spending five percent on defence to build one of Europe’s largest armies. Resilience Conference Warsaw will look at the opportunities, challenges, and lessons from arming the Eastern Flank, ensuring that the wider defence tech ecosystem is connected to the key people in this important region.

This will be the most significant defence tech event run in Warsaw. Resilience Media is working closely with leading local investors to ensure thought leaders, founders, and investors are coordinated around defending NATO’s Eastern Flank.

We look forward to seeing you at Resilience Conference Warsaw. Register here to secure your ticket.

And with that, we’re pleased to introduce these investors supporting the ecosystem in Poland and the rest of Europe.

Mikolaj Firlej, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Expeditions

Firlej is an investor, academic, and policy professional in security and defence, specialising in the application of autonomous systems and AI. He co-founded Expeditions, the leading early-stage investor in the future of European security, in 2021.

He has advised both the UK and Polish governments, working as a security analyst and policy advisor, and was also part of a UN Group of Governmental Experts on the regulation of autonomous weapons. Earlier, he co-founded the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs at Oxford University and has taught at the University of Surrey on AI Law and Regulation. He holds three Master’s degrees in addition to his doctorate. In his personal time, he is supporting gifted schoolchildren, particularly from Beskid Mountains.

Aleksander Mokrzycki, Deputy CEO, PFR Ventures

Aleksander Mokrzycki, Deputy CEO of PFR Ventures, has over 20 years of experience in finance, asset management, and venture capital. He played a pivotal role in the creation of PFR Ventures, the largest Fund of Funds in Central and Eastern Europe. With almost EUR 1 billion in commitments towards venture capital and private equity funds, PFR Ventures acts as an investor in nearly 100 local and international funds. Aleksander served as a member of the advisory group to the NATO Secretary General on emerging and disruptive technologies. His experience also includes advising on the establishment of the NATO Innovation Fund. Prior to his current role, Aleksander held positions as Deputy CEO at BPH TFI (GE Capital Group), a banking asset management company with over EUR 1 billion in assets under management. He also served as the CEO of one of the first venture capital funds in Poland.

Patrick Schneider-Sikorsky, Partner, NATO Innovation Fund

Patrick leads capacity and ecosystem building at the NIF and is responsible for the fund’s Central and Eastern Europe coverage. Based between regional offices in London and Warsaw, he works closely with startups, other VC funds, NATO’s DIANA, as well as industry and government partners, to ensure that the NIF delivers on its mission to boost deep tech entrepreneurship and foster innovation in regions where there is too much talent and too little venture capital.
