The world’s oceans are vast and expensive to patrol, leaving gaps in security, climate research and the protection of critical infrastructure.
ACUA Ocean develops unmanned boats that can travel large distances, carrying sensors and other equipment to gather information or carry out tasks at sea. Its vessels have completed sea trials, met maritime safety standards and secured a contract with the European Space Agency.
The company is also part of the Sceptre consortium, alongside simulation firm Hadean and maritime technology company Kraken, developing connected naval systems. The ultimate aim is to reduce reliance on crewed ships for routine maritime work. PS
