As government agencies and the military work adopt newer generations of digital tools, they face new cybersecurity pressures. UK-based Valarian is one of the companies that has emerged to build out “hardened” infrastructure for these groups and enterprises working in sensitive areas — the idea being to give end users in these sectors a framework for working in more secure ways than they might otherwise have through basic on-premises or private cloud architectures, while still giving them access to the latest developments in productivity, AI, planning and the rest. The company’s flagship product is called Acra, which is designed both for handling data and deploying apps. One of Valarian’s co-founders is an ex-exec from Palantir; and while there are a lot of bootstrapped startups in defence tech, this startup is taking the other route, backed by a lot of investors. IL
