It seems like everyone is talking about the Swedish government pamphlet ‘If Crisis or War Comes,’ but we came across it back in May. Part of our Resilience Conference founding thesis and originally posted on Dr Tobias Stone’s Medium account, you can read our thoughts on it here.

Now onto this week’s highlights.

-Leslie, Co-Founder, Resilience Media

We are pleased to launch our Founder Stories series with a profile of the fantastic Ukrainian CEO and Co-Founder of Farsight Vision, Viktoriia Yaremchuk. On the stage at our conference, she captivated the room. We were fortunate to meet her again recently for lunch to hear her story.

Viktoriia appeared on the ‘How Ukraine is Upending Defence’ panel at Resilience Conference 2024. You can watch the video archive here.

Carlos Espinal needs no introduction but we’ll give him one anyway. As Managing Partner of Seedcamp, Carlos is one of Europe’s leading early stage investors and one who has been in the ecosystem since the earliest days. Coupling that experience with a background in information security, he has been thinking about the investment spectrum across the ‘resilience’ sector. He took the time to write up his analysis of the investment landscape following Resilience Conference in September and has shared them with us. We’d be interested to hear your feedback.

Missed Carlos at Resilience Conference? Watch the scene-setting panel ‘Bigger Picture: The Role of Startups in Protecting Democracy’.

TechUK, the UK’s technology trade association, has published a report on how technology is transforming defence. The report is based on feedback from their extensive membership, and has valuable insights for the sector. We particularly like their take on how government should be sharing problems rather than procuring for solutions, and in turn how business and academia need to focus more on producing solutions rather than just technology. We also liked their shout-out to HMGCC for the great work they’re doing here. You can read our review of the report here.
