Shotling, a Danish startup focused on short-range counter-drone systems, has closed a €700,000 pre-seed round, exceeding its original €500,000 target. The round was led by Myriad Defense Fund, with participation from IPO CLUB’s Fund II America 2030. They also received a non-dilutive match-loan from EIFO, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark.
The company is developing a counter-UAV system designed to engage first-person-view drones at close range. Shotling’s approach centers on a rotary-style shotgun-style gun intended for use at distances of roughly 50 to 100 meters, a range where electronic warfare and jamming are often less effective. The system is built around a gatling-style design with high-capacity magazines and firing rates reported at up to 3,000 rounds per minute, using standard or tungsten-based 12-gauge ammunition.
Shotling says the new capital will be used to advance its weapon system through further development and testing.
“We are supporting Shotling’s mission to deliver rapid-fire modular shotgun systems against FPV drones and loitering munitions – as the global counter-UAS market accelerates towards $10 billion by 2030, with kinetic defense segment showing strong momentum,” said Edoardo Zarghetta, Managing Partner at America 2030, in a release.
Shotling’s focus is on modularity and cost, with potential use cases spanning frontline military units and the protection of fixed sites where low-flying drones present a persistent risk. While much of the counter-UAS market has emphasized detection and electronic countermeasures, recent combat experience has highlighted gaps at short range, where fast, disposable drones can overwhelm defenses. In short, the Shotling is a Gatling Gun that targets only close-range drones.
