Despite having been founded in 2001, the NIF-backed Portuguese drone company Tekever was named a unicorn just last year. The company offers a suite of unmanned aerial surveillance, reconnaissance and intelligence drones, supplemented with an AI-boosted intelligence-as-as-service platform for data processing and interpretation. Their AR3 and AR5 drones are deeply integrated into Ukraine’s defences, having amassed over 50,000 flight hours in Ukraine. They have since established a presence in Ukraine with local arm and team. Tekever drones are both fixed wing with VTO functionality. They are “mission-driven”, meaning they have several predefined roles that they’ve been built for. Some of those include detection & identification, electronic attack, communication relay, and maritime wide area surveillance. JG
