As with hardware on Earth, Moore’s Law is playing out high up in the skies, too: nanosatellites weighing less than 10kg can cost one-tenth as much, and while the capabilities of them are typically more limited than for larger birds, that is rapidly evolving. U-Space’s focus is in small satellites, with one its products weighing less than 5kg, and alongside hardware it also provides design and other support services. It’s part of an interesting cluster of companies being formed in Toulouse; and with a play for more sovereign technology for France and Europe, it has strategic backing from a range of VCs including some connected to the French government.
