UK defence and security investor GALLOS Technologies has raised £35 million to build and back more companies working across national security and resilience.
The $50 million (£35 million) balance sheet investment round was co-led by Ventura Capital and Aberdeen Investments, the company confirmed in a LinkedIn post, with existing investor Lansdowne Partners also taking part.
The round remains open to additional strategic investors, meaning the £35 million announced so far may not be the final figure. GALLOS has not disclosed its target for the raise or when it expects to close it.
The funding will be used to back further startups and invest in GALLOS’s own platform as the company looks to expand its portfolio of security, defence, and resilience businesses.
Founded by Josh Burch and Dean Jones, GALLOS operates as both an investor and venture builder. Its team draws heavily on experience from the national security and defence sectors, while former GCHQ director Sir Jeremy Fleming is among its advisers.
GALLOS has already backed StirlingX, a UK company specialising in drone operations and data intelligence for defence and other high-security environments, and AI Score, which develops technology for managing and governing organisations’ use of artificial intelligence.
It has also invested in US defence software company Second Front Systems, which develops technology intended to make it easier to deploy commercial software into government environments.
In raising a new fund that has yet to close, GALLOS is striking when the iron is hot. Funding for defence and resilience tech is in a heady moment. We have heard from sources that Second Front, which to date has raised $150 million but last closed funding in September 2024, is now raising a new round.
Resilience Media has contacted GALLOS for further details on the target size of the round and its expected closing date.
