Fire Point is among Ukraine’s largest defence contractors. It produces both the FP-1 deep strike drones and the FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles, which can travel 3,000km and carry a warhead that weighs over 1000kg that are able to travel deep into enemy territory. Very secretive, the company doesn’t have a website, and the production facility location(s) remain a closely-guarded secret. Fire Point has recently come under scrutiny, as it was discovered that one of their investors, Timur Mindich, is a close connection of Zelensky’s, prompting the launch of an anti-corruption investigation. During this time, former US Secretary of State Mike Pomoeo joined the company’s advisory board. In an effort to provide more transparency, the founders held an unprecedented press conference, where they share their origins of their initial funding – the initial $1.5 million was provided by the three founders personally, and that only later were they approached by Mindich. Most recently, Fire Point has been said to be discussing the sale of 30% of its shares to UAE’s EDGE defence group. JG
