At Resilience Media, a founding part of our mission was to inform the wider tech sector and society about the commercial opportunity and moral imperative of working in defence and national security.

We believe that our world has changed; our democracies are under constant attack from autocracies and dictatorships that want to see rules-based democratic order weakened or destroyed. We sustain daily cyber attacks, arson, disinformation, and now kinetic attacks that put our resolve and response to the test.

In response, we think society at large needs to look at what each person or company’s role is in defence and national security.

To achieve this, we have always opened up our conferences to the wider media. They are important to amplify the messaging from the conference. We cover our events, and we welcome a wide range of other media publications to attend and cover the content and companies, too. Media also attend off-the-record panels and discussions to widen their knowledge of the sector.

At TechCrunch, where Leslie and several others on the team worked, we always favoured journalists as panel moderators. They are domain experts and communicators, and many have received training and experience to make them excellent moderators. They also instinctively challenge orthodoxies and ask difficult questions. By involving our editorial team and other journalists as moderators, we also bring in the expertise that may be missing from defence conferences produced by generic conference companies.

We welcome a wide range of journalists at our events. At both the 2024 and 2025 Resilience Conferences, we were privileged to have Shashank Joshi, then Defence Editor of The Economist, moderate some of our most important panels. We were also joined by his colleague, the veteran journalist Kenneth Cukier. Other moderators have included Mike Butcher, Pathfounders; Caroline Daniel, former editor of FT Live; Tom Mackenzie, Bloomberg; Iain Martin, Forbes; and Greg Williams, former Deputy Editor of WIRED.

The extensive media presence at our events has led to interviews conducted from the floor of Resilience Conference and mentions of attendee companies in the WSJ, Financial Times, Bloomberg, Forbes and Forbes Ukraine, and The Telegraph.

At our 2026 conference in London we will have the largest number and range of publications yet. This will include the Associated Press (AP), BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, Financial Times, Forbes, The Economist, Handelsblatt, Newsweek, New York Times, The Sunday Times, and the Wall Street Journal.

The value to investors and startups is evident. Gaining media coverage is an important part of building out a business, and helps communicate what we all do to the broader tech sector and to society. Attendees can ask for introductions to the media, and can arrange meetings at the conference. There is significant value in having this concentration of journalists in one place over two days, and we’re thrilled when we see coverage of the attending companies in significant publications.

A ticket to Resilience Conference is an opportunity to learn from the leaders in this field, to join one of the most focussed and unique networking events of the year. It also provides access to a curated group of the leading journalists in this field who are attending in search of interesting stories, and who might otherwise take weeks or months to engage.
